AAPPN is Washington state’s professional home for advanced practice psychiatric nurses.
With more than 250 clinical and student members—from Bellingham to Richland, from Vancouver to Spokane—AAPPN is the only organization specifically dedicated to the profession in our state.
AAPPN serves members and the professional community through:
- Advocacy: protecting your profession and advocating for mental health care
- Career Cultivation: providing resources and programs to enhance your practice
- Connection: bringing members together share resources, learn new skills, and build friendships
- Education: conducting CE programs designed specifically for psychiatric ARNPs
Many thanks to the AAPPN members who shared information and resources regarding the impacts of the COVID-10 pandemic on mental health, our profession, and our practices. We’ve put together a curated list of these resources to assist you navigate through these difficult times.
What does the future hold? It would be foolish to presume to know, whether talking about society or our profession. One thing is certain. AAPPN will only be as resilient as our members. We’re already preparing for the possibilities.
It is now clear that AAPPN members can redesign services. I see that we are well positioned to meet the needs of our clients. This foundation will need to remain strong as we face a steep increase in the demand for mental health care as the economic fallout of this pandemic emerges.
An organization’s financial reserves are used to finance improvement projects and provide insurance for a rainy day. Obviously, the current situation is closer to a monsoon. Because of AAPPN’s prudent planning, we are on solid financial ground.
“I believe strongly that advanced practice psychiatric nurses are a vital link in solving the shortage of mental health providers. I know it is not an easy path but it is very rewarding and worth the effort. We depend on your leadership.” – Connie Huffine
During the COVID-19 health care crisis, AAPPN is hosting free, online “Open House” meetings for members on Wednesday from 3-4 p.m.
