AAPPN is Washington State’s only organization committed specifically to advanced practice psychiatric nursing.
The Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses was founded in 1982. The activist nurse practitioner founders of AAPPN, working with other nursing organizations, were instrumental in obtaining prescriptive authority for nurse practitioners in Washington State.
We invite you to explore the rich history of how AAPPN has helped make the psychiatric Nurse Practitioner profession in Washington among the strongest in the nation.
The association includes nurses from community settings, academia, hospitals and private practice. Together with our lobbyist in Olympia and allied organizations we have advanced the scope of our practice to be one of the most independent and progressive in the nation. Belonging to this dynamic group celebrates, validates, and supports your advanced practice.
