Audio-Only Telehealth Reimbursement

With this online tool, you can find a roadmap for navigating reimbursement for audio-only telehealth in Washington State under SB 5036 Audio-Only Telemedicine – Reimbursement Conditions, effective July 23, 2023.

Select one of the following conditions.

I or another provider in the same integrated care group has seen the patient in person in the last three years.

Audio-only telehealth reimbursable at the same rate as in-person.

I or another provider in the same integrated care group has seen the patient via audio-visual telehealth in the last three years.

Audio-only telehealth reimbursable at the same rate as in-person.

Patient was referred by a provider who has personally seen the patient in person or via audio-visual telehealth in the last three years.

Audio-only telehealth reimbursable at the same rate as in-person.

None of the previous scenarios apply.

Payment for audio-only services may differ from in-person or disallowed for reimbursement
