Seeking Psychiatric- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

  • Must be an RN, licensed to practice in the State of Kansas
  • Position requires advanced practice nursing knowledge with a Masters in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing
  • Must have Kansas ARNP License
  • Must have a valid DEA registration
  • Post-Graduate experience preferred


The psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse who focuses clinical practice on individuals, families, or populations across the life span at risk for developing and/or having a diagnosis of psychiatric disorders or mental health problems. The psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner is a specialist who provides primary mental health care to patients seeking mental health services in a wide range of settings. Primary mental health care provided by the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner involves the continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders.

Garden City Outpatient averages between 45-50 employees: Medical staff (Psychiatrist & APRNs); Program Managers; Therapists; Case Managers & Mental Health Assistants; Clerical/Support Staff.  The following is a list of the array of services offered at the Garden City Outpatient office.

  • Same day: Next day access to therapy services (we are all about access)
  • JIT scheduling for medical services (we are all about access)
  • 24/7 crisis services ~ therapy staff rotate on call (we are all about access)
  • Therapy services at our Jail and Juvenile Detention Center
  • Trauma Informed/Sensitive model of care (building on this)
  • Substance Abuse evaluations and services
  • Individual ~ Family ~ Group Therapy (see attached list of specialties)
  • Psychological Testing/Evaluations
  • Competency to Stand Trial Evaluations
  • Collaboration with Primary Care providers ~ working on efforts for Integrated Care
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy ~ Individual and Group + at our Behavioral Health Unit
  • Certified Domestic Violence Program ~ Assessments & Treatment
  • Full array of Community Based Services + Summer Psychosocial Program
  • We have several staff that serve on Boards of other Agencies or participate in community council committees and we all collaborate to better meet the needs of our community
