The psychiatric nurse practitioner will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including nursing, case management and therapists in our adolescent (13-17 year old population) residential treatment facility, the Pearl Street Youth Residence, which will be moving into a renovated, state of the art building in the summer of 2020. This facility is one of the five Children’s Long-term Inpatient Psychiatric (CLIP) facilities in the state of Washington. The successful candidate will be working alongside a child and adolescent psychiatrist and will treat a diverse population of youth with behavioral health problems such as autistic spectrum disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma history and comorbid substance use disorders and/or ADHD. An important focus for our psychiatric providers is to collaborate effectively with primary care and other medical specialty providers in order to improve psychiatric and overall health outcomes for the patients we serve utilizing evidence-based practices. This position is Monday through Friday with extremely limited on-call responsibilities (on-call is by phone only). The position reports to CLR’s Chief Medical Officer. Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications: 1) graduation from an accredited master’s or Doctor of Nursing practice program; 2) unrestricted licensure to practice as a psychiatric ARNP in Washington state; and 3) a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with child and adolescent populations. A DEA-waiver to prescribe buprenorphine is desirable.
The Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an essential member of a multidisciplinary team caring for individuals admitted to involuntary psychiatric or withdrawal management services. The position is responsible for initial, consultation and ongoing psychiatric evaluations, medical management of psychiatric illnesses and substance withdrawal as appropriate. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides team leadership and participates in the ITA (Involuntary Treatment Act) legal process as needed.
