Transgender and gender-diverse people—especially people with disabilities and people of color— are at higher risk for mental and medical comorbidities when compared with the general population.
This recorded, virtual AAPPN Master Class takes a deep dive into the mental health and psychopharmacological aspects of care for gender-diverse clients. After watching the session, clinicians will leave with tools that can be implemented directly into care across the continuum.
An Overview of Clinical and Pharmacologic Care of the Transgender Adult
Linda Gromko, MD, will explore the medical-surgical aspects of transgender care, from initial hormone consultation to post-operative care. Gender-affirming vocabulary and the basics of gender identity will be covered, along with common clinical situations encountered in a transgender-focused family practice. Note: Photographic slides contain graphic materials.
Transgender Toolbox: Basic Tools to Provide Optimal Care
Cory Grandinetti, MA, OTR/L, will lay a foundation of knowledge, enabling clinicians to leave the session with tools that can be implemented directly into care across the continuum. Participants will be empowered to advocate for the unique needs of transgender patients that may impact rehabilitation participation and outcomes.
