The Lois Price Spratlen Foundation provides scholarships to psychiatric ARNPs who demonstrate the character, energy, and courage exemplified by Lois Price Spratlen, founding member of AAPPN.

Our Mission

The Lois Price Spratlen Foundation identifies, encourages, and cultivates excellence in Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing; because when we care for those in need, we care for ourselves.

Our Values

The Foundation is built on four cornerstone values of promoting (1) research and education, (2) leadership development, (3) access to healthcare, and (4) diversity. We focus on creating opportunities for nursing research, expanding the role of psychiatric nurse practitioners, promoting the highest standards in nursing practice and supporting the development of dynamic, creative nurse-leaders.

Our Vision/Our Priorities

We envision a state where every citizen’s well-being is nurtured.  We seek to create:

Community of Caring

We recognize and support initiatives in communities that aim to improve the health and well-being of its citizens, including children and youth, by addressing homelessness, access to treatment, and delivery of mental health care to the poor, disadvantaged, and those who are incarcerated or disabled by addictions.

Healthy Individuals and Families

We support research that expands our understanding of the impact of mental illness on individuals and families, explores how to promote mental health, and works to prevent suicide and random acts of violence.

Strong Leadership and Education

We recognize the need for wise, resilient leaders who have the desire to make the world a better place through collaboration, communication, and a genuine respect for the complexity of society.

The Problem We Face

Washington is experiencing mental health care provider shortages throughout the state.

Our Solution

Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses offer an effective, integrated, and holistic approach to mental health. We have the opportunity to help the next generation of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses to continue the traditions of leadership, mentorship, and health care evaluation and innovation.

Please join us to support our psychiatric nurse practitioners of tomorrow. Together, we can build a future of quality mental health care in our state. For more information, contact Kirk Roberts at kirk@strongnonprofits.com or 360-734-3166.
