Nikki Behner

January 3, 2023 by AAPPN

President, Finance Committee Member, Legislative Committee Member, Snohomish County Chapter Co-Chair

Nikki Behner, DNP, MPH, ARNP

As a long-term member of AAPPN, I have been proud to be a member of such an active and progressive specialty organization. Now, more than ever, I believe it is important to highlight and market the skills that psychiatric ARNPs bring to our complex healthcare environment. As psychiatric and medical practices begin to collaborate and align in joint practice affiliations, having the support, expertise, and strength of AAPPN membership has the potential to strengthen those alliances. I look forward to continuing to promote the expertise of independent psychiatric nursing practice through documentation of members’ activities as our practice continues to expand into new healthcare opportunities.

I am sole practitioner in Mount Vernon, Washington and also work a prescriber in the Skagit County Jail.

I have extensive experience in community mental health. Since 1987, I have managed medication and therapeutic interventions for acute and chronic behavioral health issues.

Throughout my career my chosen practice areas have included community mental health, involuntary psychiatric facilities and correctional (jail) facilities. In my spare time I enjoy gardening and spending time with our horses, dogs, and farm critters.
