In Memoriam

Donna Poole, MSN, ARNP, PMHCNS-BC

Donna Poole tirelessly served to represent our profession and to increase the stature and visibility of ARNPs in Washington State.

The list of Donna’s accomplishments is extensive.

She provided direct mental health treatment services, primary care consultation for behavioral health complications, and psychiatric consultation-liaison services for medical/surgical in-patients.

She was an AAPPN leader, from serving as past president to leading our advocacy efforts. She was a cornerstone of the nursing community, serving as past present of the Washington State Nurses Association and as Vice-Chair of Washington State’s Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, now known as the Washington Board of Nursing.

Her legacy lives in every client we are able to see as independent practitioners. It lives in every medication decision we are able to make for people in need. It lives in the blessings of being able to work as a psychiatric ARNP in a state with one of the most progressive and advanced scopes of practice in the country.

A few years ago, Donna shared how she got started in the profession and how her involvement changed over the years. You can read more in her AAPPN member profile.
