Legislative Update for February 2020

February 13, 2020 by AAPPN

Capitol Building in Olympia

We’re about halfway through the 2020 legislative session!

Currently, the Legislative Committee is tracking more than 100 bills and has reviewed more than 40 prior to their public hearings.

AAPPN has supported bills that expanded access to mental and behavioral health treatment, strengthened primary collaborative care, and addressed patient safety and interventions for at-risk or vulnerable populations.

AAPPN also testified with concerns regarding a bill that would have expanded the role of certain pharmacists in the delivery of behavioral health services. The bill did not move forward in the legislature and is considered “dead.”

It has been a busy session! The Committee appreciates the participation of members of the Advocacy eGroup for providing input on bills where the Committee sought additional opinions.
