Recent Advocacy Activities
Although the State Legislature is not in session, there were plenty of advocacy activities in October!
AAPPN was invited to take part in stakeholder study conducted by the University of Washington School of Law regarding the impact of the Volk Decision. As part of the study, two AAPPN members were interviewed. They were asked how they screened for suicidal ideation in their clients. They also discussed their use of the Columbia Suicide Tool and what process we used to get help for a suicidal client. They also shared what resources and support available in community mental health clinics vs private practice. The study will be presented to the State Legislature on December 1.
In October, members of AAPPN’s Advocacy eGroup were notified of three advocacy opportunities:
- Provide input to the Bree Collaborative on reports and recommendations in two topic areas: Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias
- Participate in three Behavioral Health Policy Focus Groups
- Serve on the Washington State Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
